Sexing Zebra Dove / Spotted Dove

Zebra Dove and Spotted Neck Dove are sexes alike but they do have slightly different physical appearances. it can be sexed as adults after they age reached 5 months old. these indications may be useful in determining the sex of the birds you are purchasing . 1. Iris - the male dove iris ring are smaller and lighter than female 2. Plumage coloration - their feather colour is also different when observe closely. On male doves head have lighter feathers on its forehead than females. In zebra doves males have light grayish forehead feathers and females have a slightly brownish cast . 3. Physical Size - males dove will probably be larger than the female. The male's appear to have a huskier body than the females do and their heads are larger and blockier. 4. Voice - Males are usually much more vocal then females are. Females are very quiet and when they do coo have a higher pitched voice. 5. Bow Coo - Males will do bow coos, the mating display where the bird repeatedly touches his beak to the ground and coos to females. Females will almost never will do a bow-coo unless they have been kept in the company of females without any males for a long period of time. 6. Male bird legs is thicker and longer than female 7. Doves pubic bone, female have a wider space pubic bone than males . this space is the same as other birds because female have to have space for laying eggs. 8. Male dove have broad chest and it perching strongly, female perching different. 9. Male dove have a bigger broad head but female have smaller head and in a round shape. 10. Male dove is active and aggressive towards other males
