Pied Spotted neck Dove

The pied variety are the result of failure to produce melanin in the medular of the feathers in certain parts of the body . originally spotted necked dove in a pied variety found in the wild and were breed domestically and became famous. There are two forms of pied the first being the pattern pied . this variety has two colours, both in the body and the wing, each being equal in proportion to each other. The pattern pied can be bred and have pattern of patch in youngster near their parent’s patch. The original pied from the wild have small white patch on the body but now breeder can breed more beautiful pied which has bigger patch and placed in a good position on it’s body .

The second type of pied is a non pattern pied. This type have small patch place on the body . when bred pattern pied , the youngster can be different of their parents as the colour in the body has become irregular

Dominant Pied and Recessive Pied

The pattern pied has two forms of pied which are dominant pied and recessive pied. They are neither sex-linked nor non sex-linked. They are what is known as a dominant variety . what that mean is, that when paired to a non-pied, they will produce approximately 50% dominant pieds . the rest 50% of the young will be split for dominant pied . the markings should be in normal coloration, and the body should be white .

Recessive pied is a type of variety which was developed for a decade, many cross-mutation were raised and far from the major colour mutations. The group of recessive pied have been develop in various colour such as red pied , terra cotta pied and kledkeaw pied. This type of pied is a recessive character, therefore dove bred can be split . because this dove is recessive , it may appear as a normal . when pair this dove back with recessive pied , will produce pied in both male and female

Note : Dominant pied gene may work like incomplete dominant when paired to some wild type and the offspring from this case may have small patch of pied mixed with wild type feature.
