SPOTTED NECK DOVE CALLS Display Call - a coo that dove use to call other doves, they use this coo before they start the following coos/calls. ( 3 notes coo-croo-oo ) Distress call is quite similar to distress calls but call with smaller tone. dove use this call when they are nesting Display coo - a coo after dove perform display call . as the other message to let other dove to know (3 notes in a different melody from display call). Bow Coo - a loud double notes down while bowing ( 2 notes coo coo , coo coo). Alarm coo -two sharp notes coos when something unusual has happened or to persuade their mates ( 2 notes coo-coo differ from bow coo but no bow). Advertising Coo - dove use this call to communicate with other doves ( usually 4 notes crook-croo-oo-kook ) * some dove have different advertising call which has many last notes like crook-croo-oo-kook-kook-kook . this type is special and rare called three notes dove. thai peole believe this kind of dove can bring lucky and remind of triple gems of buddhism . some doves can give many last notes up to 6 notes . a dove with 6 notes is more expensive. ** some doves have no last note on advertising call (nok liu) (crook-croo-oo - accent differ from display coo ), thai people believe that this kind of dove have special power to stop the fire burning. thai ancestor found a wild fire stopped in an area of Nok Liu dweller. and or the wild fire cannot happen in that area too. so we like to keep this kind of dove in the house to have them protect us. it has 2 kinds of Liu Dove. first is Liu Tunn - a dove with last note missing on every distress call and Liu Fueng - a dove with last note missing in some distress call. for a spotted dove competition we use 3 types of coo to determine and give marks . it is advertising coo/ display coo and alarm coo. dove in a new generation breed can give these calls in a set real fast and coo in a unique melody . this type of spotted dove called a song dove (nokkhao ca rom).		a Song Spotted Neck Dove " nokkhao ca rom " were bred for hundred year for a unique coo in a fast rhythm . giving you a pleasure and warm atmosphere when you hear. we don't use wild dove in a competition because it's hard to find wild dove with such voice quality and so they have no good notes and good beat coos. so domestic spotted dove were bred and used for competition. this nokkhao ca rom is very popular in central region of thailand.
