1. it takes 14-15 days for zebra dove egg to hatched , their fist born chick have no feathers and don't really developed. They need special cares because it's critical time as they may become ill from Fowl pox disease cause from mosquito. Their parents will take care of them feeding pigeon/dove milk.

2. When the chick at age about 10-12 days, they start to learn to fly. During this period be careful and watch them, they may fall from nest and cannot get back. It’s necessary to put them back to their nest. Age 14-17 days they learn to feed themselves and can fly efficiently. Age about 20 days they start to wean.

3. Age 40-50 days the chick start a Distress Call, some breeder can know their future from this call by listening to small details of it. Transfer them from breeding cage to flights with a couple of adult birds. Let them feed and learn to fly in large flights. The longer u let them grow in a flights the more they are strong but it's difficult to get it tamed. When chick grow in a flight for short period they may not be strong and can use in competition for short time. Some breeders leave them in a flight for 4-5 months then give training. This method would take longer about 15 months but can get an endure dove and can make it give a long display call.

4. Age more than 4 months dove start to give a distress call mixed with display call. Transfer them to a single cage for pole training.

5. Age 6 months dove gives more display calls and this period we can know quality of its last note call. During this period train them on a pole from 8.30-10.00 and give training pole longer until 12.00 am.

6. Age 7-8 months dove give more display calls 20-30 time continuously. When doves are familiar with training will give more and more display call from 30-40 times. Some bird with many display calls will be attained for a competition since they age about 9 months. Some bird not so active, have less display call would be on training until they give more display call. If it's not call often, this means they have no potential in a competition.

Pole training is a process to train zebra dove in a cage. This training use 7-9 meters tall pole. Bringing dove cage to the top of the pole to gain some good atmosphere because dove’s natures like to start a call in a top site of it's territory. When doves in nature start a display call they go to the top of the tree and start to call. When the dove goes on top of training pole they would feel active and show their territory like their nature. A training start from 9.00 am which is the same time as competition starts. During this time the dove call often and give a good voice. Also this training would make dove healthy because they get morning sun and good air.

1. When chicks are 3-4 month old and change from juvenile to mature dove in a flight. Transfer each dove to a single cage. The first time start training pole is to place a cage on half of a pole height. Let them cope with new surroundings. the light sun rays in the morning is necessary for it's energy and immune systems, dove will get used to for this activity real fast. At the beginning, start a training pole very early in the morning and when time reach to 9.00am take the cage off from pole and give some delicious seeds as a reward for dove.

2. A month later, tart training pole about the same time and adjust the height to a higher position. Adjust to a higher bit by bit each and everyday until it reaches to the top of the pole. This stage train dove until 10.00 am for one month. Some dove are about to give a good voice of display call. Survey your dove and choose some dove which appears to have the potential to win.

3. Take your dove on training later than last time and prolong ending to 11.00 am for one month. Change a different pole nearby to make dove familiar with different places.

4. Start training at 8.30 and end at 11.30 which is the same time/length as actual competition. It’s necessary to train a pole in farer place or move to train at actual competition field. Owners like to introduce their birds to get used to the setting where the contest is taking place. At the final stage, train your bird to familiar with a vehicle by driving a car with the dove in its cage. Cover its cage with curtain to reduce stresses of their new surroundings. It’s a must to train dove in this point to make dove get used to traveling a long distant.

5. When dove turn to one year of age, attend them in a small competition at local competition which is not far from your site. Let them learn in traveling with vehicle and competition atmosphere.

Things that you need to consider in pole training

- do not let other people put your dove on training pole, dove is not familiar with stranger, it may not call.

- do not let other people come to see dove before putting it on training pole.

- let dove get used to training time by not leaving dove on training pole over the competition time.
